DETROIT – Lithium-ion batteries caught fire at GM Factory ZERO on Detroit’s east side.
The incident occurred on Tuesday (Dec. 19) in the 2500 block of East Grand Boulevard.
Detroit Fire Department Chief James Harris said it was a three-alarm fire at one point just for manpower.
Officials say there were no injuries to the General Motors workers or the firefighters who attended the blaze.
Harris said firefighters were hosed down when they came out of the building as a precaution.
Officials say the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
