“I do feel a protectiveness over Olivia,” Eilish shared in an interview with the L.A. Times
Billie Eilishjust recently shared that she feels a “protectiveness over” Olivia Rodrigowho was born 14 months after the”What Was I Made For?vocalist.
In an interview with the Los Angeles Times released Tuesday, Eilish exposed that Rodrigo influenced her tune “Goldwing.”
“I believe everyone’s experiences are so private,” she informed the publication. “Nobody has had any person else’s life, you understand? I do feel a protectiveness over Olivia. I have actually a tune called ‘Goldwing’ from my last album that’s sort of about her.”
She included, “It’s not just about her. I was simply thinking of her when I was composing it. She was turning up, and she was more youthful than me, and no one had actually ever been more youthful than me.”
“Goldwing,” which included in 2021’s Better Than Everconsists of the poignant verse: “They’re gon na inform you what you wish to hear/Then they’re gon na disappear/Gonna claim you like a souvenir/Just to offer you in a year.”

When talking to the LA TimesEilish stated she might connect to Rodrigo, who apparently was an over night experience while still a teen. “Olivia was getting huge, and she was simply, like, this little pretty kid,” Eilish stated. “I felt so worried. I was stressed over her. She turned up because acting world, and individuals are so odd. I do not understand– I simply felt really protective over her. And I feel that method to everybody.”
Eilish taped “Ocean Eyes,” a track composed by her bro Finneas O’Connell, when she was simply 13. In a cover story for Vogue previously this year, which concentrated on her environment advocacy, Eilish assessed the duration before her music got global attention. “I recall at who I was, when less eyes were on me,” she stated. “I grieve that. I make every effort to be that kid once again.”
