Actor Vijay’s TVK (Tamilga Vatri Kajhgam) party not team A or B, but BJP’s C team: Tamil Nadu law minister S Regupathy
Tamil Nadu Law Minister S. Regupathy expressed his skepticism about actor Vijay’s newly formed political party, Tamilga Vatri Kajhgam (TVK).
Regupathy characterized TVK not as a legitimate political contender but as a “C team” of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
He emphasised that the Dravidian model of governance remains deeply ingrained in the minds of the people, suggesting that the public will not easily shift away from this established political framework.
Regupathy further criticized a recent public meeting held by TVK, describing it as more of a grand spectacle akin to a film event rather than a serious political gathering.
His comments highlight the ongoing tensions between established political parties in Tamil Nadu and emerging political entities, as the state navigates its complex political landscape.

Iranian Supreme Leader Khamenei’s Hebrew-language account suspended on X within a day of launch
Social media platform X has taken action against Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei by suspending his newly created Hebrew-language account, @Khamenei_Heb, just one day after its launch. The suspension was attributed to a violation of X’s rules, although the specific nature of the infraction has not been detailed.
The decision to suspend the account followed a post in which Khamenei stated, “The Zionist regime made a mistake. It erred in its calculations on Iran. We will cause it to understand what kind of strength, ability, initiative, and will the Iranian nation has.” This message was part of his broader communication strategy targeting Israel, which has often been a focus of his rhetoric.
X’s rules prohibit content from “violent and hateful entities,” yet they allow exceptions for posts made by “state or governmental entities.” Despite this, the platform has not released any comments regarding the rationale behind the suspension of Khamenei’s account.
Egypt proposes two-day Gaza ceasefire to facilitate return of four Israeli hostages
Egypt President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi announced on Sunday that Egypt has proposed a two-day ceasefire in Gaza aimed at facilitating the exchange of four Israeli hostages for some Palestinian prisoners, the Times of Israel reported.
This proposal, which includes an additional 10 days of negotiations following the release of the hostages, was presented to Israel’s national security cabinet last week by Israeli Security Agency Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar, Times of Israel reported citing Channel 12.
While most ministers and security officials supported the idea, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir opposed it.
Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu opted not to put the proposal to a vote, citing concerns over the initial ceasefire, and sent Bar back to Egypt to negotiate better terms.

Netanyahu says Israel hit Iran hard; Khamenei says damage should not be exaggerated
Israel’s airstrikes “hit hard” Iran’s defences and missile production, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday, as Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said the country was considering its response.
With warfare raging in Gaza and Lebanon, direct confrontation between Israel and Iran risks spiralling into a regional conflagration. But a day after the airstrikes, there was no sign they would spark another round of escalation.
However, heavy fighting in Lebanon between Israeli forces and Iran-backed Hezbollah, which sharply intensified over recent weeks, continued on Sunday with an Israeli airstrike killing eight people in a residential block in Sidon, medics said.
“The air force attacked throughout Iran. We hit hard Iran’s defence capabilities and its ability to produce missiles that are aimed at us,” Netanyahu said in a speech, calling the attack “precise and powerful” and saying it met all its objectives.
Israel’s army chief, Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi, said the strike on Iran had showed what the Israeli response to its enemies would be. “We struck strategic systems in Iran, which carries great importance, and we will now see how things develop. We are prepared for all scenarios in every arena.”
