Previous UFC middleweight champ Robert Whittaker thinks Brendan Allen requirements to slow his function before requiring leading competitors.
Allen (23-5 MMA, 11-2 UFC) desires a No. 1 competitor battle after sending Paul Craig in this previous Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 232 headliner at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. He discussed Jared Cannonier, Khamzat Chimaev, and Whittaker as preferable next battles, however Whittaker (25-7 MMA, 15-5 UFC) believes Allen has a bit more work to do after beating lower-ranked Craig.
“I’m quite sure he stated my name,” Whittaker stated on his MMArcade Podcast“I’m quite sure in his speech he stated he wishes to combat a competitor, he wishes to battle me or Cannonier. I believe he’s No. 10 now. He’s undoubtedly simply gotten into those leading guys. I do not understand, I’m not a matchmaker.
“Paul Craig wasn’t a 10th-ranked guy, he wasn’t in the top-10 rankings. He’s got to have his bite still, I think. The top-10 battles. Simply do your work. UFC recognize that, acknowledge that. The matchmakers exist. I do not understand who he combats next. To be truthful, I do not care.”
Having actually heard these words, Allen made another pitch to Whittaker on X.

Allen is on a six-fight winning streak. Whittaker is coming off a TKO loss to Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 290 in July. Prior to that, Whittaker won 4 out of his previous 5, consisting of a consentaneous choice over previous title opposition Marvin Vettori.
